I’ve been living with my husband for just over eight years now. Before we hooked up, he adopted a shy extremely skittish cat and named her Violet. Her pre-adoption name was Mama Celeste because she had two litters of cats before being taken away from her owner for cruelty and endangerment. Seems like her douche-bag of an owner looked her in a little closet with her new kittens and no food or water. Her kittens all died and she was left to cautiously step over their bodies until finally her meowing got to the neighbors and someone called in animal control.
When he got her, and I adopted her myself a few months later when I moved in, she was afraid to even step on a pair of socks left on the floor. She’d hop over anything left out, and hid whenever anyone came over. Gradually, she’s turned around and now is super loving and a great lap cat.
Isn’t see adorable!
I’ve been in the dumps a little this week with all the ickyness that’s going on in my life. So much so, I’ve been neglecting her and I got myself in the act this morning. She was so desperate for love, she actually brought me a little ladybug cat toy and plobbed it on feet. It was her offering to me, her hunt that she was sharing. My heart was broken. I owed her so much time. She can turn my mood from sour to sweet with just a little belly rubbing.
Violet reminds me of Simon’s cat. Anyone who hasn’t yet discovered Simon’[s cat is seriously missing out. See the video below, and check out youtube.com for more.
