Fridays are good days.
Every other week you get paid.
The weekend is pretty much here.
Even without a job I can appreciate that!
With the unemployment, Jason has set some rules for us (I’ve countered with some of my own).
Rule number one: no drinking before 5 pm during the week. I’ve been even better than that and haven’t been drinking even a glass of wine with dinner. But weekend time! That’s the time for a good, dry glass of cabernet. Something I dream of on a rough Wednesday afternoon.
My number one rule for him: no video games before 5 pm. I can just see him, in his undies (because we keep the air conditioning set at like 80 degrees to save money, not because he just likes to chill in his tighty whities). He’d sit on the couch, playing Prince of Persia for hours. Now, we have a rule.
In keeping with yesterdays post, I want to share with you the best tradition I have ever created. Woman, be prepared. Man, be prepared to have no idea why this is an appealing idea. Ready…
Chocolate and Wine Fridays
For a year or so now, I have spent almost every Friday dreaming about my own, personal late afternoon time. For a long while, Jason was working until about 5 or 6 pm and wouldn’t usually come stomping through the door until 7-ish. That gave me all afternoon to get some writing done, go shopping, or just chill and watch a movie.
That is, until five o’clock rolled around. I’d gather up my stuff at my library carol or from Caribou’s extremely comfortable couches and make my way home.
Then came the best part of the whole entire week. My time. A nice selection of dark chocolate samples, a nice, wide glass of cabernet, my lap top, some chill music. All is good. All is better than good, all is wonderful!
I sit, in my favorite chair, and I write, and I sample my dark chocolate and I get tipsy.
It’s a little different now, with Jason home, but he knows how important this routine is for me and has been super supportive of it.
So tonight. Treat yourself right. If you’re not a big writer, try a hot bath. That’s my second favorite Friday activity.
Personally, I’m going to go home, grab a handful of Dark Chocolate Cherry Cookies, a cheap bottle of Merlot (we’re being frugal), and write up, hopefully, the last of the outline for my current story.
Hope your night is going to be a great as mine!

I am rubbish because I don't really like chocolate or wine.
But I am with you with internet time and chillaxing music :)
